Please note I'm currently working on the new site. I didn't want to take the site offline though, so you can still visit it. However me working on the site while it's still online means a lot of the pages will appear wonky. But not to worry, it won't take too long. Happy

So this may seem like a really random post. It's not. I've been part of the EA Game Changer program for a few years now. I am proud to be in that program. Because I've always worked hard on my site and its content. But there are people out there who feel that Game Changers are only saying what EA wants us to say (not true), and that we never criticise the game or suggest "things that people really want" (also not true). Today I am going to write about a feature from The Sims 2 (and also kinda from The Sims 3) that I really miss in The Sims 4.

I'm also hopeful that at the end of this post, you will consider sharing it via social media (the more people share this, the better), and that The Sims studio will hopefully see this post/the collage and consider putting this feature in The Sims 4 in the future.

The Sims 4 has a lot of features we didn't have before. But there are obviously also things missing. Sometimes that's okay. It might be something we don't really miss. But sometimes it's something that we really DO miss. I'm sure a lot of people have forgotten about or don't even know about the existence of COLLECTIONS in The Sims 2 (and later also The Sims 3). So I'm here to remind you: WE HAD COLLECTIONS AND THEY WERE AWESOME!

I've made a collage of screencaps of the Sims 2 UI as you can see above.

Collections in The Sims 2 were both used to group items from packs, as well as themed items. So you would have items from Apartment Life, but also items in the Metro, Gearhead, Bohemian, Socialite, Groovy, Asian, Medieval, Mission, Colonial, Atomic collections et cetera. I know we have categories in The Sims 4, quite a few. And that is awesome and really helpful too. But you can't make your own category in The Sims 4. You can't create your own collection of favourite items in The Sims 4. It would be incredibly helpful if we could!

Think about it.

What if you have a Challenge where Sims players are only allowed to use very specific items? A collection would be so convenient!

For custom content creators and users it would also be such an awesome idea. I personally create a lot of CC items, and many of those items belong to a collection. Wouldn't it be nice if we could have those items together in a collection?

I also feel that the colour filter in The Sims 4 is pretty useful at times. And sometimes it's completely useless because it's lacking specific colours. (Where is aqua/turquoise, teal, mint etc? Those colours aren't blue nor green!) With Collections we could group our own favourite items together, and find them back in one location every time we need them.

Preferably Collections would be added for Build/Buy items (including wallpapers/floors!) but it would also be great for CAS.

In The Sims 2, we could create our own custom Collection icons, which we could then load in the game and use for our custom collections. I really encourage The Sims studio to not only bring back Collections, but to also allow us to load our own external images for it.

I'd also like to see the option to share our collections. I understand the Gallery might not be the best place to share them, especially if we are using custom icons. But it would be great if we could copy the Collection file and put it on our fansites and Tumblrs. That way, we could share Collections for challenges and custom content.

In The Sims 2:

  • You can use the existing Collections from Maxis.
  • You are also able to edit or delete those if you want.
  • You can create new Collections.
  • You can also edit and delete those Collections.
  • You can add more items to Collections.
  • You are able to use icons which came with the game itself.
  • You can also create your own icons and use those in the game.
  • You can share your collections with an audience.

To this day, I use Collections when I play The Sims 2. It is incredibly useful and I'm not sure why this isn't in The Sims 4.

This feature would make the game SO much better. Please consider implementing this back into the game EA/The Sims Studio!

Curious about the new outfits? But don't want to watch long overview videos? Don't worry. Rosie and Wouter are showcasing some of the new outfits here! This is part 4 of "Magical Lookbook - a peek at the fashion in The Sims 4: Realm of Magic, as shown by Rosie and Cheetah"

Ohhhh we love a good new outerwear/cold weather outfit! Rosie is showing a new full outfit from Realm of Magic, and it's a lovely coat, what appears to be a sweater and a pair of trousers. She is wearing the steampunk style boots with this, which combines really well!

We love a good sweater too! Another great piece to wear during fall/winter. Wouter even likes this sweater. Wow! He's wearing regular jeans and regular black sneakers with the new sweater.

We liked this cute dress so much that we made Rosie wear it again, but in a different colour! With some tights underneath and the new sneakers it is the perfect outfit to conjure up some spells. Also, she has these lovely braids with various different colours in there. And while we haven't mentioned it before, she has a lovely celestial face paint which is reflective too. ✨

Finally, here's Wouter again in yet another full outfit. It's a casual outfit consisting of a pair of green trousers, a shirt and a cardigan. He's wearing very specific sneakers underneath which go surprisingly well together!

Curious about the new outfits? But don't want to watch long overview videos? Don't worry. Rosie and Wouter are showcasing some of the new outfits here! This is part 3 of "Magical Lookbook - a peek at the fashion in The Sims 4: Realm of Magic, as shown by Rosie and Cheetah"

This whole outfit is so cute. Rosie would never wear that in real life. But it is a very cute look. A bit steampunk even! The hairdo is also really adorable. The sheer short sleeve polo shirt makes the top look more classy. The shorts are really shiny, not really Rosie's favourite. Still in combination with the pantyhose and those steampunk boots, she is loving the overall look.

Again, not something Wouter would normally wear. But we can all agree it does look very stylish! The trousers are a tad baggy, which we found a bit odd.

How cute is that crop top? There are a few more of these with different prints as well, including but not limited to a cartoony black cat! Rosie is wearing a high waisted skinny jeans, and regular white sneakers to complete the outfit. Her hair style is new as well. It's actually not available by default for feminine Sims, but luckily we can just disable that filter and pick any hair we like! Cause let's be honest, doesn't this hairdo look cute?

Wouter and Rosie agreed that this outfit is very Robin Hood like. The sweater, the pants and the boots. It all just matches. You could even call this a medieval style outfit!

Rosie just does not care that some of this stuff was marked as "masculine" at all. nope. So here you can see Rosie wearing the same hoodie as Wouter was wearing in part 1. But Rosie is wearing it in one of her favourite colours (ochre yellow). She also tried on those ripped and torn jeans from the men's department, and decided she liked it enough to keep them on. Also, she borrowed the same sneakers Wouter was wearing earlier.

Wow, how fancy is Wouter huh? All dressed up! The hair is great, but he decided after this lookbook he never wants to wear it like that again. It's just not him. That's okay Wouter! It's still a nice hairdo. The same goes for the outfit by the way. It is very classy and fits right in with the rest of the clothing from Realm of Magic. But Wouter just doesn't like it for him. We still think he looks awesome.

Woah! Rosie has a bit of a gothic vibe here. According to Wouter this dress is very Morticia-esque. Rosie feels that it's missing a pointy trail and pointy sleeves for that though (hint hint The Sims Studio). It is a very lovely, classy dress. The hairdo is also awesome. But it is a bit too short and quirky for Rosie. And that's okay!

Wouter is very neutral about this outfit, which in his case is often a good thing. He doesn't dislike it. But he would never wear this unless someone made him (Rosie made him). It's a full body outfit and it looks sort of casual, especially with the shirt only half tucked in. He's wearing the new sneakers that came with Realm of Magic. They're quite versatile. We love that!

Rosie is showing a cute yellow starry dress here, combined with a hairdo that is "masculine" by default in the game (but we don't care). She's wearing a black pantyhose underneath and a pair of white sneakers. Because why not?!

Wouter (aka Cheetah) is wearing a purple hoodie, with the hood up! Unfortunately for him his ears are a tad too big (don't worry, Photoshop Fairy Rosie cut his ears off for this lovely piece of art!) but I tested it with some other Sims, and it seems it's only Wouter's ears that are peaking out. He's wearing a very dark blue pair of jeans and new sneakers from Realm of Magic!

Very witchy! Rosie really digs this outfit. The necklace is beautiful as well. This skirt is so cute, Rosie doesn't even care she has big legs. ❤

The jeans are really not Wouter's style. But he agreed to wear them for now. He does very much like this worn and torn sweater though! This might just be a favourite! The sneakers are new as well. And he feels neutral about them.

SimGuruGraham tweeted about the upcoming stuff pack The Sims 4: My First Pets Stuff:

You’re going to see legalese for The Sims 4 My First Pet Stuff that reads like this:

“Requires The Sims 4 game (sold separately) and all game updates to play. Requires The Sims 4 Cats & Dogs (sold separately) to access all content.”

…let me explain what that actually means.

The Sims 4 My First Pet Stuff can be purchased and played by anyone who only has The Sims 4 base game. If you play it without having The Sims 4 Cats & Dogs installed, here's a breakdown of how each portion of the pack works...

New Gameplay: If you play The Sims 4 My First Pet Stuff without having The Sims 4 Cats & Dogs installed, you’ll be able to play with all of the new gameplay features that are coming with the pack.

New Objects: If you play The Sims 4 My First Pet Stuff without having The Sims 4 Cats & Dogs installed, you’ll be able to place all of the new objects in the pack. However, pet specific objects that are intended for cats and dogs will not have interactions on them.

New Clothing: If you play The Sims 4 My First Pet Stuff without having The Sims 4 Cats & Dogs installed, you’ll be able to use all of the new clothing coming for Sims of all ages. You will not have access to the new outfits and accessories worn by cats and dogs.

Questions about this? Ask away - I'm happy to help clarify.
